2024 Art Year in Review

It’s been a great year, here’s to an even more stellar 2025!

I hadn’t been participating in many shows after the never-ending Covid years, but this year, that changed.

In May I participated in the Fulford House Museum show in Brockville Ontario, which was a very well done show. I was happy to see one of my paintings go to the home of a collector in Brockville, and I’m very proud to be part of her collection. I’m in distinguished company there!

The Fulford show led to my being invited to be one of two artists in a show at the MARIANNE VAN SILFHOUT GALLERY at St. Lawrence College in Brockville, and what an amazing experience that was. The show was: Conversations in Colour & Form: Anne Barkley & Brenda Clarke Landscape paintings approached through the polarities of detail and abstraction. Kudos to Heather Savage of St. Lawrence College for a great concept, and a masterful job of hanging the show.

Three of my paintings made the trip to Belleville in July for an Ontario Society of Artists show. Great gallery, great location, great show, once again, great company.

Then, two of my paintings were chosen for the Society of Canadian Artists online show. Quite an honour, as only about 1 in 4 of paintings submitted were chosen for the show.

Here’s to 2025!!!!

Ontario Society of Artists OSA

I am thrilled to be elected as a member of this organization.

Founded in 1872, the Ontario Society of Artists is Canada’s longest continuing art society.

This is a professional association for visual artists living and working across Ontario with a mandate to promote the visual arts through exhibitions, special projects and arts advocacy. Our membership roster includes many of Canada’s best-known painters, sculptors, printmakers and photographers. We currently have an active membership of over two hundred artists, working in a wide range of media and from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

The Ontario Society of Artists has a home and meeting place at the historic Arts and Letters Club of Toronto at St. George’s Hall, located at 14 Elm Street in downtown Toronto. The Hall is a building with a lively history of remarkable colour and vivacity and is designated a building of National Historic Significance by the Government of Canada. This is a permanent space for our OSA meetings and events where individual members have the opportunity to meet, interact and enjoy the companionship of other artist members.
